Is the Hummer H2 dead?

Rumors are spreading like wildfire about the future of the Hummer H2. Some have reported the boxy full-size SUV was to be overhauled relatively soon, getting an updated and heavy-duty-ized GMT900 platform -- the one that currently exists underneath the new Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Yukon XL, Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Avalanche, Silverado 1500, Sierra 1500, and Sierra Denali. Others are saying GM will kill the beast (or fashion statement) as soon as three years from now. Currently, the Hummer H2, as well as the Suburban 2500 and Yukon XL 2500, still use a version of the previous-generation GMT800 platform, providing GM with some cost savings along with the ability to cater to a shrinking, yet profitable, tow/haul vehicle segment.
